Kick out Health Problems by Kicking out Nicotine
The death rates worldwide have drastically increased because of the intake of tobacco and nicotine. Smoking causes a higher risk in cancer related illnesses. People who smoke and demand a longer life span are contradicting themselves. If smokers value their lives and the lives around them, then it is essential to drop the tobacco and pick up a prolong life. Cigarette smoking should be illegal because it increases death rates for the smoker, the people around the smoker, and it can imprint a scar on their lives.
Based on the facts, the chemical intake in tobacco is the leading cause for the decrease in the worldwide population. The tar can damage the function of the heart and blood vessels ("How Does Smoking Affect the Heart and Blood Vessels?" NHLBI ). This process can result in artherosclerosis (NHLBI). About forty four percent of people in the United States smoked and about twenty percent died from various diseases such as Lung Cancer, Larynx Cancer, Heart Disease, Atherosclerosis, plaque build up in the arteries, and thousands of other deadly effects ("How Does Smoking Affect the Heart and Blood Vessels?" NHLBI). It is even dangerous to smoke around people with breathing problems such as asthma ("Real Stories", CDC). People who do not smoke but are around people who do smoke is known as Secondhand smoke. This is just as deadly because people with asthma have asthma attacks due to the smoke around them. Pregnant women who smoke cause possible risks to their unborn baby such as a miscarriage ("Abstract," Maritz, Gert S, Richard Harding) . About twenty five percent of pregnant smokers are left with long-term guilt because they lost their babies, and that is only in North America ("Abstract," Maritz, Gert S, and Richard Harding). Others live legless or deal with one less kidney. These are just a few reasons why smoking should be illegal because it is harmful. If smoking does not come to an end now, the people worldwide will.
The purpose of this article is to speak to those who think smoking will not affect them. If it can happen to other people, then it can happen to anybody. This research is meant to inform the readers the risks that comes along with smoking. It is inevitable to keep living as healthy as possible. Protecting society from diseases, helps promote a happy environment filled with happy and healthy people. If cancer was to disappear, then people would put down the cigarette.

Reflection
In my original Research Proposal, I revised all of my opinionated details into a more supportive claim. For instance, in my original essay I said, "When people say,'I wish cancer never existed." That was more of an opinion because not all people wish for the same thing. Instead it was better to write, "People who smoke and demand a longer life span are contradicting themselves." This way was a shorter and easier way to show that a smoker who wants a longer life will possibly not get it because of smoking cigarettes. I took out any unnecessary facts like, "Researching on real life stories, people like Terrie had her larynx removed due to throat cancer because of smoking (CDC, Real Stories). I elaborated on who I was talking about when I stated, "Pregnant women who smoke cause possible risks to their unborn baby such as a miscarriage." Before the sentence I wrote was, "Foolish pregnant women cause a high risk of birth defects and miscarriage because of the smoking." For my bibliography, I switched the cites around, so they fit in ABC order. I fixed the citations, and I changed my passive voice into active voice. For example, in the original piece I said, "They support this position by listing the health problems, the statistic rates of young smokers, and an estimated amount of how much people suffered with deadly cancerous diseases," for Leo and Gloria's article. I revised it to: "They list the health problems, the statistic rates of young smokers, and an estimated amount of how much people suffered with deadly cancerous diseases to support this position."
